Studies of the origina interface and analysis of the related user experience.
Few and dynamic elements, giving importance and the right hierarchy to the areas and the elements that are more important for the interaction.
Skeuomorph Buttons.
Aluminium and Plastic, are the base for the interaction elements and the entire interface. Aluminium buttons are used for the main categories and elements, plastic buttons instead are the user controls and the regulations.
Comparison old version with new one. Not only Skeuomorphism UI but focus on what is important for the user in every page.
In the original UI the Keyboard was in the wrong place: clicking the buttons the hands cover the text filed.
Colours and fonts in the original UI are used in a confuse way, it seems that elements are placed where is good for the developer and not where is important for the user experience.
Simple and flexible layout, no metter if you are the administrator or the cashier.
Focus on the three buttons status: these make clear where the user can click or not, and, thanks to the press status if the interface/software react to user command or not.
Different materials to make clear which kind of interaction you can have with any object in the interface: in aluminium all the main elements (status is given by colour halo around them), not editable text fields are in grey instead the editable text fields have white background, black plastic buttons for the user interaction and adjustments.
Dynamic keyboard is placed where is needed and where is more comfortable. Also in this case allow the user to interact with the text fields and once the editing is completed it disappears making the confirm and cancel buttons visible and active (see the example below). This helps the user to complete in the proper way the operation.
Make simple and clear a touch screen editable counter that include also other informations was a great challenge: in this case, the denomination (status is given by colour halo), the available capacity (number of notes), the selected capacity and the + , - buttons to improve and make quicker minor changes.
