The founders of the startup Hortbot commissioned me to design the external shapes of their first robot, the HB700, for automated greenhouse field cultivation.

The challenge was to make a monolithic object, with significant dimensions and composed of a myriad of mostly metallic mechanical components, appear light and modern, which were neither modern nor light-looking.
I developed shapes that could evoke a flying robotic insect, giving an immediate and superficial impression of technology, and that could stand out from the existing robot landscape.

I wanted the main body of the HB700, the moving part that runs along the supporting structure, to resemble the technological version of a diligent insect that tirelessly hovers over the fields, performing its operations autonomously.

The chosen colors have functional significance and are also directly tied to the company’s brand colors. The product's engineering was then entrusted to the startup itself, which carried out the various developments independently.
